Shuttle sire Bernardini has had the best start at stud by any American sire since 1973, adding to his great strike rate when his 3YO colt Algorithms pulled off a stunning upset win over last year's unbeaten juvenile champion Hansen in the $400,000 G3 Holy Bull Stakes at Gulfstream Park.

Bernardini is now the sire of eight Graded/Group winners and eight G1 horses in his first two crops.

His four G1 winners include G1 Cigar Mile winner To Honor And Serve and G1 Travers Stakes winner Stay Thirsty.

In 2011 Bernardini saw two yearlings, a colt and filly, both bring $1.2 million at auction in the northern hemisphere.

Algorithms represents Bernardini's second crop of runners, while in the southern hemisphere the son of A P Indy is represented by four yearlings at the current New Zealand Premier yearling sale and has a further seven at the Inglis Premier sale in Melbourne starting February 27.

Algorithms is now unbeaten in three starts. He was a two-year-old debut winner at Belmont last June by more than five lengths and annexed an Allowance at Gulfstream Park in December.

In the 1600m Holy Bull Stakes, Algorithms settled just off the pace in second and sharply moved by Hansen in the stretch to secure victory by an easy four lengths.

The three-year-old colt is from a superb family. He is out of Graded-placed Ava Knowsthecode, by Cryptoclearance and is a half-brother to three Graded stakes winners as well as a stakes winner.
