Delbridge Racing Update 8 May 2013

May 08, 2013

There has been plenty of action at Delbridge Racing with recent wins to Great De Here and Art and Whiskey, a promising first up 3rd from Bernzigova, a couple of conditioning runs for Great Player and the Gary Sherer trained Godspiel showing good signs for the future with a close up 5th in Group 1 company.  All five horses are likely to face the starter within the next 10 days with the first two, Great De Here running at Caulfield this Saturday and Art and Whiskey at Sale on Sunday.

So watch out for updates on our website, email, facebook and twitter to follow their progress. You can join us on twitter and facebook from our website home page

But this week’s update is focused on our exciting yearling filly by Denman from the good producing mare, Indian Spice, who has now finished her breaking in at Eliza Park and is now at trainer Gary Sherer’s property.

We have been very impressed with the way she has been broken in by Eliza Park. Sue Ellis from Eliza Park reported that the Denman Indian Spice filly “has been a nice filly to educate, she enjoys stable life, eats well and generally has handled the whole process really well. On the track she works happily in company, on her own she still looks at things but otherwise does nothing wrong. She had no issues with the barriers and after a spell with a bit of maturity she will come back a nice filly.

The filly arrived at Gary Sherer’s property at Tatura on the 30 April 2103. She has been in work there since and has developed further under Gary’s tutorage. Gary has also ridden her at track work a few times to get a good feel for her galloping action.

Gary commented “she is a very nice filly with a great temperament and learns very quickly. She has broken in well and has a very economical action. She is a good type with a very strong and compact physique which indicates she will be a sprinter from 1000 – 1400 metres. She gives the impression she will be an early runner and should race as 2-y-old. I note that many of her family have been 2-y-old winners and that is what I will be aiming for with her.

Gary went on to add “I plan to give her a bit more time at the track this week and then a 4-6 week break to grow and then see if we can get her to the early 2-y-old races in the spring. I would recommend we enter her for the Group 1 Blue Diamond at Caulfield next Autumn. It is better to be entered early rather than have to pay a late entry fee. If she lives up to her type and breeding it is race we should be thinking about.

The filly is eligible for the rich Super VOBIS Gold scheme which provides additional $20k prize money incentives per race and the Inglis series of races worth up to $250k each.

A photo taken of her under saddle on Saturday 4th May at track work is shown. A video of her working whilst being broken in at Eliza Park is now displayed on our website home page at http://delbridgeracing.com.au/
