It was a winning return to racing for the talented sprinter Pakari Toa at Seymour on 9 January 2014.

In a performance that took the clock back a few years he won first up over 1000 metres with a withering finishing burst to grab the prize on the line.

It was a great training effort by trainer Gary Sherer to get him back to the track and in A1 condition for a first up win.

Gary said “it has been a long battle to get him right but he was there on the day to finish it off and he let down like I thought he would. He has learnt to be a great swimmer over the last few months and we will manage him carefully, space his races and hopefully we can get a few more wins for the owners in the coming months.”

There was an enthusiastic team of owners (pictured) on track to cheer Pakari Toa home and they were thrilled with the win.

Prominent owner Michael Vukadinovic commented" I congratulate Gary on his work to get him back to the races and his last 300 metres was the best the horse has run in a long time. He was well placed back to a 0-64 class race and I was confident that he could win”.

It was a great way for Delbridge Racing to start 2014 and with a number of promising youngsters about to resume racing the team is looking forward to the next few months.

Managing Director Mark Leo, who is at the Gold Coast Magic Millions inspecting yearlings to find the next crop of Delbridge Racing winners, commented “It is pleasing for all the owners who have stuck with this horse as he has had a few problems which make him a day-to-day proposition. Today was Pakari’s day and all credit goes to Gary and rider Jamie Mott for getting the job done.”

Delbridge Racing has the exciting 2-y-old DOWNTOWN MANHATTAN aiming to have her first start in the next few weeks and there are still a few shares available – see website for more details https://delbridgeracing.com.au/horses-available.
