Delbridge Racing's Cups and Cox Plate prospect Shamoline Warrior has gone amiss and is out of the spring carnival.
Trainer Mark Kavanagh said Shamoline Warrior had sustained a mild ligament tear above a sesamoid bone during trackwork at Flemington on Tuesday morning.
"He'll need two months rest and a month on the water walker with a good prognosis for a return to racing," Kavanagh said.
"He'll be back for the autumn."
The four-year-old resumed when 13th to Shoot Out in the Liston Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield last month.
Last spring he was a short-priced favourite for the Victoria Derby after wins in the listed UCI Stakes (1800m) and the Group 3 Norman Robinson Stakes (2000m).
Delbridge Racing, Managing Director, Mark Leo said " the syndicate of owners (pictured celebrating a listed win in the UCI stakes at Flemington) are disappointed but philosophical about the latest set-back".
"They have certainly experienced the highs and lows of racing with this talented entire but they are a very hardy and positive group who appreciate the efforts of the Kavanagh team to detect the injury at an early stage." he added.
"Most of the syndicate have also taken shares in some of our quality 2-y-old's we have coming through so they will have plenty to look forward to in the Autumn."
