Shamoline Warrior confirmed has favourtism for the 2009 VRC Derby by winning the Group 3 Norman Robinson over 2000 metres at Caulfield on Saturday 17 October 2009. He showed all the attributes of a promising stayer with his 1 3/4 length win over the two Sydney siders Onemorenomore and Gathering after making a long sustained run from the 600 metre mark. Trained by Group 1 winning trainer Mark Kavanagh.
