Beltoro put in a career best performance on Friday 24 March 2023 to win the listed Albury Gold Cup over 2000 metres to qualify for the Big Dance on Melbourne Cup day.
After settling behind the speed jockey Josh Richards showed great patience early in the race to have him well positioned off the speed before moving into the race on the turn.
From the entrance to the straight Beltoro was travelling well and he went for home to career away for a 4 ¼ length win. As the race caller said “Beltoro has bolted in.”
By winning the Albury Gold Cup Beltoro qualified for the BIG DANCE a 1600 metre race at Randwick on Melbourne Cup Day worth $2m in prizemoney with $1m to the winner
Beltoro will be set for the BIG DANCE in his next campaign.
