Pakari Too ended 2011 in the best way possible for Delbridge Racing owners when the Darci Brahma 3-y-old gelding was a convincing winner at his first race start on New Year’s Eve at Bendigo.

With Michael Rodd in the saddle and under the watchful eye of top trainer Mark Kavanagh, Pakari Toa always looked the winner breezing home in a smart 57.56 seconds in the 1000 metre maiden at Bendigo.

Top jockey Michael Rodd, who has ridden with a lot of success for Delbridge Racing, was pleased with the effort by Pakari Toa and said “Kav said he settled back in his trials and finished off really well, so I was expecting that today. He began really well; I gave him a bit of a squeeze and he got there easily. There was plenty there and he gave me a good feel.”

“……with a little bit of time… he has a great attitude, so you never know where he could go,” Rodd added.

Trainer Mark Kavanagh commented after the race that Pakari Toa "is a handy, progressive horse who is bred to go further in distance".

Pakari Toa was purchased at the 2010 Karaka sales for leading syndicator Delbridge Racing and was quickly syndicated to a mixture of long term clients and new owners many of whom were on course at Bendigo to cheer Pakari Toa home.

Pakari Toa showed that he has a lot of ability and with natural improvement and maturity he should develop into a handy race horse.

Watch for more Delbridge Racing runners over the coming weeks including Pakari Toa, Luckyzeel and Green Pearl.
